FIVE POINT PALM.

I’m going to make a promise right now to y’all to try my best to update atleast once a day. This may be a challenge if nothing’s going on, but I’ll try my best to have something of significance to say or show. Aside from crunching my last year of a five year stint at the University of Toronto, work has been busybusybusy, which I am very thankful for. The shop I moonlight at, the walk-ins are a tad slow totally depending on the weather, and it’s getting mad cold out. But that gives me time to work on more drawings, which is always good. The newest addition to the private space is a nice lil 23″ lcd hdtv/monitor that clients have really enjoyed watching movies on. I agree with most artists when they say that watching a flick really helps the client sit a bit better and gives them a nicer experience in general.
Yesterday, I did an awesome piece on Dart, and no movie watching was necessary because the conversation was great. The piece was a combination of celtic knot work arranged in a circle and a stone work rune in the center. This was his first and has personal significance and I was honored to be part of something so important that marked an anniversary in his life. He sat like a rock and wears it so well.
On Saturday, I continued to work on Carl’s dragon chestpanel to half sleeve. This shit’s going to be ill as hell. On Thursday, I tattooed LA native, Mer TwoOneThree on the fly, doing a “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” tribute to graffiti along with a lil character spray can. This kid’s funny as all hell, and it’s true what Jedi said, that kid writes on EVERYTHING. Kid’s been in Tdot since April and has been killing it on the gettin up scale. I love doing that kinda stuff, so bring it on, if any of you out there have got that in mind.
I’ll have pics posted as soon as all that gets figured out.
Other than that, training is getting more intense at the gym. My wrist is starting to show signs of pain – Note to self: Get that checked out quickfast. I try to be conscientious of the condition of my wrists and hands, as these two things are my livelihood and I would like to be tattooing til I’m 80 and an old gypsy Lola. I really hope it’s not carpel tunnel. Another thing I’m going in to get checked out is my foot situation. The car accident I was in years ago was never adjusted properly with after-care physiotherapy. Now that I’m running (yeah, who woulda thought right?) aches are starting to really surface. I’m quite serious about boxing, so it’s imperative that this gets sorted out sooner than later.
In regards to school, I’m really trying to enjoy the journey. Four out of these five years, I didn’t make many friends, as I didn’t view school as a social opportunity and would hit up my lectures and quickly go home with no dillydaddling. My program has allowed me to meet some very nice individuals who are driven, which is always a breath of fresh air to surround yourself with. I have a few more papers to complete before December break, which is a milestone for me. I strategically arranged to have 80% of my course load during the first term (september to december) so that when we’re in the dead of the winter months and eventually transitioning into spring (and patio weather and sunshine and blunts) i’ll only have 3 half credits to complete. That’s a big change from the 5 half credits I’m doing right now, which also equates to more tattooing time in the new year.
I’m looking into getting a shader machine made from Dan Dringenberg. I’m also definitely going to hit up Mike Palombo in the new year for another two. The liner he handmade me is my everyday work horse and puts it in like butter. I couldn’t be any happier with the tools I’ve been fortunate enough to accumulate. If you are interested in machines as much as I am, and you should be, peep Dan and Mike’s pages in my Links section.
I’ve been listening to alot of funky courtesy of my homegirl’s man Mr. Freeza Chin of UKC, Jay-Z’s blueprint 3, Jill Scott, The Black Keys and Tupac’s “Bury me a G”‘s been playing on repeat.
Oh, and Manny Pacquiao planted some serious murderation on Miguel Cotto. The next fight very well may be against Mayweather, which may prove to be more of a challenge for the Philippines’ greatest export.
Until next time:
Don’t sleep!
